Peterborough Innovation Talks

Hatch Ptbo and Public Energy present
You Heard it from the Arts: On Collaboration, Enterprise, and Creative Problem Solving
with Jini Stolk and Ella Cooper

Everyone doing community work is facing the imperative to transform the way we operate in order to thrive in a changing economic context. We should be watching the most innovative arts workers as they collaborate across traditional borders, extend their reach to new participants and audiences, and create innovative responses to new challenges in arts making and broader issues. Stolk and Cooper will share stories of the most dynamic and innovative arts strategies from big city and small town and explain why successful arts initiatives may be building resilience, not stability, by calling upon their entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative skills.

Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 7PM, free

Background
Erring
was a multidisciplinary event first staged in the summer of 1995 by members of the Union Theatre collective in vacant apartments above The Only Café that were being demolished to make way for The Gordon Best Theatre. Pieces were developed collaboratively for specific spaces by teams of writers, visual artists, and performers brought together for the project.

The Mount was, from 1894-2009, the home of the Sisters of St. Joseph, an order of Roman Catholic nuns. Presently the site is transitioning into a community centre with mixed-income housing units. The Mount Community Centre, a not-for-profit group overseeing this transition, is making the site available to artists for Public Energy’s Erring on the Mount. The Mount occupies approximately 10 acres at 1555 Monaghan Road. For more information on the history of The Mount and the Sisters of St. Joseph see their site: www.csjpeterborough.com/peterborough.htm.
